For me, fly fishing means so much more than just catching fish.
The construction of a rod, tying a fly, entomology, making special line tapers, moving in and reading the water, perfecting the casting technique, finding the right position, presenting the fly...
An endless playground as part of a greater whole. And when everything falls into place, you're rewarded with a beautiful fish.
I'm happy to share this feeling in courses and guiding sessions.
We've always loved being outdoors. That hasn't changed to this day.
We got into fishing at a very young age through our father.
He taught us the technique of 'sliding' for barbel fishing when we were young kids.
This method sometimes requires two or more people, depending on the water depth, to press the bottom person down to the riverbed.
The bottom person catches the barbel flowing downstream between their legs.
We also have unforgettable memories of the days when we, as children, fished with hand lines and worms at nearby waters.
After that, we experienced all types of fishing.
Fishing is a part of our lives. Through it, we've seen many beautiful places, waters, and landscapes. We've met like-minded people and formed lasting friendships.
We want to continue on this path and have founded the company heoken [ˈhɛʏkən].
For us, it means much more than 'hook.' It connects us to our roots, to an endangered language, and to a nature-based way of life.
